Senderismo en el chaltén: amanecer desde la base del fitz roy

Nos levantamos sobre las 4 y poco antes de las 5 estábamos ya subiendo hacia la Laguna de los Tres.
Éramos unos cuantos saliendo del Campamento Poincenot abrigados como esquimales y con los frontales encendidos camino a la base del Cerro Chaltén.

Hacia las 5:15 H empezó a clarear y las nubes que había se tiñeron de un rojo carmesí muy intenso que les daba una textura parecida a llamaradas. 


A medida que nos íbamos acercando a la Laguna de los Tres podíamos ir viendo, de vez en cuando, cómo el Fitz Roy se iba iluminando con ese resplandor rojizo proveniente del horizonte opuesto.
Aceleramos el paso y llegamos a la base del Cerro Chaltén, la Laguna de los Tres, justo cuando los rayos de sol daban directamente a la pared rocosa y la pintaban de naranja y rojo, haciendo que el contraste entre los colores rojizos de los cerros y el azul marino del cielo se acentuase hasta parecer que las montañas eran llamaradas gigantes. 
El espectáculo duró unos 5 minutos, pasados los cuales decidimos volver al campamento a desmontar la tienda y bajar hacia el pueblo. Se estaba levantando viento y empezaban a aparecer nubarrones. Habíamos tenido una suerte con la meteorología que si nos lo dicen un par de días antes no nos lo creemos.

HIKING AROUND EL CHALTÉN: SUNRISE HIKE TO THE BASE OF THE FITZ ROY
We got up at 4 a.m. and a little bit before 5 a.m. we were already hiking up the Laguna de los Tres.

There were a few of us leaving the Poincenot campground early that morning: we were all dressed like Inuits and with our head torches at full power in order to see all the rocks that we were going to find along the way.

At about 15 past 5 a.m. it started to be some light up in the sky and the clouds that were towards the horizon started to become bright scarlet making them look like flames. 


While we were approaching the Laguna de los Tres we were having little glimpses of the Fitz Roy being painted bright orange by the sunlight.
We all accelerated and made it to the Laguna de los Tres, the famous base of Cerro Chaltén a.k.a. Fitz Roy, just in time to see the entire mountain range shining bright orange in front of the deep blue sky, looking like the biggest fire place in nature. 
The show lasted almost 5 minutes. Once finished we hiked back to camp in order to take down the tent and walk back to town. The wind was picking up and the clouds were growing fast. We had been so lucky with the weather we couldn’t even believe it.
