Teotihuacan

Hoy que se celebra el Día del descubrimiento de América, qué mejor foto que la de este lugar tan emblemático para los mexicanos, sí, de Teotihuacan (que en náhuatl significa "Lugar donde fueron hechos los dioses"), una de las ciudades más importantes de Mesoamérica en el Preclásico tardío y el Clásico temprano. 
Sin embargo, cuando llegaron los españoles, esta ciudad ya había sido abandonada y no se sabe a ciencia cierta cómo se llamaban sus habitantes. 
Con las imponentes Pirámide del Sol y Pirámide de la Luna, es un sitio que remonta al esplendor del desarrollo prehispánico y que sin duda, pone la piel de gallina al pensar que sus habitantes nos dejaron ese testimonio por los siglos de los siglos. 
He aquí un fragmento de los Primeros memoriales de Bernardino de Sahagún, cuyos informantes nahuas pensaban que Teotihuacan era el lugar donde se reunieron los dioses para dar origen al Quinto Sol.
Cuando aún era de noche,
cuando aún no había día,
cuando aún no había luz,se reunieron,se convocaron los diosesallá en Teotihuacan.Dijeron,hablaron entre sí:—«¡Venid acá, oh, dioses!«¿Quién tomará sobre sí,«quién se hará cargo«de que haya día,«de que haya luz?»
Y no puedo evitar preguntarme, ¿qué habría pasado en estas tierras de no haber llegado Cristóbal Colón a América? Sea como sea, es un lugar al que vale la pena ir, recorrer y por supuesto, subir hasta la cima de esas espectaculares pirámides. ¡Buen fin de semana para todos!P.D. ------------------------------Today that we celebrate the day that America was discovered, what better photo than this  one, such an emblematic place for Mexicans,  Teotihuacan (which in Nahuatl means "place where the gods were made"), one of the most important cities in Mesoamerica in the late Preclassic and early Classic.

However, when the Spanish arrived, this city had been abandoned already and no one knows for sure how its inhabitants were called.

With the impressive Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, is a site that dates back to prehispanic development splendor and certainly touches you to think that its inhabitants  left us this testimony for ever and ever.
Here's a snippet of the Early Memorials of Bernardino de Sahagún, whose Nahua informants thought that Teotihuacan was where the Gods gathered to give birth to the Fifth Sun.When it was still dark,when there was no day,when there was no light,they met,the gods were calledthere in Teotihuacan.They said,talked to each other:- "Come here, oh, god!"Who will take upon him,"Who will take responsibility"To have day"To there be light?"
And I can't help but wonder, what would have happened in these lands if Columbus had not come to America?
Anyway, it is a place worth going, walking around and of course, going up to the top of those spectacular pyramids.
