Transpirenaica gr11 etapa 3: hiriberri - ochagavía

En casa de Anabel conocimos a Joan y a Josep, dos señores de Vic que estaban haciendo la GR11 a intervalos de 3 etapas al año. 


Ellos salieron de Hiriberri una hora antes que nosotros, por lo que cuando nos tocó salir a nosotros decidimos apretar un poco el paso para alcanzarlos y hacer parte de la etapa juntos: la niebla era muy densa y sabíamos que no llevaban gps. 
El camino sale de Hiriberri y se adentra en el bosque, por donde asciende a lo bruto hacia la Sierra de Berrendi, donde nos encontramos con un búnker de la guerra.
Seguimos por una pista de tractor hacia el Paso Tapla, que tiene una zona de aparcamiento bastante grande ya que las vistas desde la zona, en un día sin niebla, atraen a gente de todo el mundo.

Subimos por la sierra mirando la linea del gps para no perdernos porque la niebla llegó a ser tan espesa que nos costaba hasta vernos las manos. 

Así ascendimos hasta el vértice geodésico de Abodi Occidental (1496 m) que encontramos gracias a la precisión del track de ViewRanger. 
Desde ahí nos dirigimos hacia el Paso de las Alforjas, desde el que se desciende por la vertiente sur de la sierra en dirección a Ochagavía.

Fue en ese descenso donde nos escapamos de la niebla que, como por arte de magia, se disipaba en su recorrido ladera abajo.
De camino a Ochagavía hicimos mimos a unos caballos y disfrutamos del sol. Cuando el camino empezaba a llanear llegamos a la Ermita de Muskilda desde la que baja el via crucis hacia el pueblo.
En Ochagavía nos encontramos con la llegada de la Irati Extrem y nos fuimos directos a plantar la tienda al Camping del pueblo.

No nos encontramos con Joan y Josep ya que se perdieron nada más salir de Hiriberri. Un pastor les dijo que si seguían la GR11 por el Paso Tapla y la Sierra de Berrendi se perderían seguro así que llegaron a Ochagavía por los valles. Menuda aventura la suya.
Al final del día necesitábamos periódicos viejos para poner dentro de las botas y que así se secasen durante la noche, pero justo los organizadores de la Irati Xtrem se los habían llevado todos para los ciclistas. At Anabel’s we met Joan and Josep, two friends from Vic (a town in the centre of Catalonia) covering a few sections of the GR11. 
On that day, they left Hiriberri about an hour before us because we stayed chatting with Anabel while she was having breakfast. We tried to speed up a little because the fog was again really thick and we knew they didn’t have a GPS device. The trail leaves the township, crosses a forest and then climbs the Berrendi Range where we found another war bunker. A rural path took us towards Tapla Pass where there’s a large parking lot. On clear days, the views are meant to be amazing and people drives from all around to that lookout.
We walked through the exposed slopes of Berrendi frequently checking the track line on our GPS app as the fog was so thick that we were unable to find the poles marking the way even thought they were very well installed and closely located. 
We found the Geodesic vertex of West Abodi (1496 m) at the top of the range only because we used our ViewRanger.From there we headed towards Alforjas Pass (literally translating for Saddlebags Pass) and descended from there to Otsagabia through the Southern side of the ridge. 
It was there where the fog cleared away. It was mystical, magical. Suddenly the sky opened and we saw its blue color, the green of the hills and the highest peaks of the closest part of Aragon far on the distance. On the way to Otsagabia we played and cuddled some horses while enjoying the first direct sun light in days. The way turns a bit more flat at the same time as it reaches the Temple of Muskilda and from there a Via Crucis took us down to the town.
There, waiting for us, we saw the finish line of the Irati Extrem cycling race and tons of people. So we went straight to the camping to set the tent on the last available piece of grass. 
We never saw Joan and Josep on that day and we were worried. Luckily we managed to contact them. It turns out that we didn’t catch them at any point because they got lost right at the beginning. Besides, they decided not to follow the GR11 route because they knew the fog was too thick and there was no point on trying to retrieve the higher line over Berrendi.
