Urban sketchers

Por: Raquel Arias (To read English version go to the bottom of the article) Urban sketcher es un colectivo de artistas repartidos todo el mundo unidos por su pasión de dibujar las ciudades donde habitan y los lugares que visitan cuando viajan o están de vacaciones. Su página web es www.urbansketchers.org, os invito a que le echéis un ojo. Este blog muestra los bocetos y historias del día a día vistas a través de sus ojos y manos, de un modo objetivo. Generalmente están llenas de fuerza y colorido.






Detrás de cada escena hay 100 artistas que sacando minutos de donde pueden ( en el trayecto en metro al trabajo, en la parado de bus.,..) hacen de corresponsales en su país o región : ya hay más de 30 paises. Algunos de ellos son arquitectos e ilustradores, otros diseñadores gráficos, diseñadores web, pintores, profesores....y todos comparten la misma pasión que les mueve a dibujar escenas cotidianas del lugar que tienen próximo. Los dibujantes también pueden participar en la comunidad urban scketchers a través del flick group o a través de su página de facebook, donde pueden mostrar sus trabajos, comentarlos.. estar en contacto entre ellos y compartir experiencias, técnicas.... es muy enriquecedor el modo en que comparten todos sus conocimientos e inquietudes. 

Tienen su propio manifiesto ,que es su modo personal de entender el dibujo: 1. Dibujamos "in situ", a cubierto o al aire libre, capturando directamente lo que observamos. 2. Nuestros dibujos cuentan la historia de nuestro entorno, de los lugares donde vivimos y donde viajamos. 3. Al dibujar documentamos un lugar y un momento determinado 4. Somos fieles a las escenas que presenciamos. 5. Celebramos la diversidad de estilos de dibujo y utilizamos cualquier tipo de herramientas y soporte. 6. Nos ayudamos mútuamente y dibujamos en grupo. 7. Compartimos nuestros dibujos en internet. 8. Mostramos el mundo, dibujo a dibujo.
Los Urban Scketers llevan a cabo programas educativos sin ánimo de lucro, para fomentar el arte de dibujar en la calle. Su primera iniciativa fue el I International Urban Sketching Symposium organizado en Portland, Oregón, en julio de 2010. EL segundo Simposio se organizó en Lisboa en el 2011 y el tercero en Santo Domingo en 2012. A través de programas de workshop se organizan periódicamente talleres de dibujo al aire libre en muchas ciudades del mundo. Su pasión o tiene límites! El cuarto simposio tendrá lugar este año en Barcelona y será en julio; Barcelona será un punto de atracción local e internacional . Los Urban Sketchers es un organización sin ánimo de lucro para fomentar y potenciar los trabajos artísticos, las historias dibujadas, y fomentar los valores locales a través del dibujo. Promoviendo esta práctica conectan con la gente local y de todo el mundo...... Observan el mundo , lo dibujan . ...Pueden dibujar de muchas formas, pero ¿cuál es la manera de hacerlas? A todas horas y cuando quieran, es un modo de vida, un modo de ver el mundo. Pueden irse al metro ,sentarse en un andén e ir dibujando la gente que espera en el andén de enfrente, entre metro y metro. Es un buen sitio para dibujar y no les sale muy caro . Es un lugar bueno para dibujar, porque: - Hay abundancia y variedad de modelos. - La gente va con prisas y no te mira. - Aunque te miren tienes las vías de por medio, y así da menos corte. - La gente se suele quedar quieta mientras espera. Lo malo es que tienen 3-4 minutos máximo para cada persona... lo que tarda en llegar el tren.... esto es un reto también para ellos! Some are architects and illustrators, others are graphic designers, web developers, painters or educators, all sharing the same passion for drawing on location. Also drawers can participate in the Urban Sketchers online community through the global flickr group and Facebook page where sketchers showcase their work and connect with each other. Urban Sketchers started online as a flickr group in 2007 and later became a nonprofit organization. Our mission as a nonprofit is to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. We aim to show the world, one drawing at a time. This is the manifesto they follow: MANIFIESTO: 1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation. 2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel. 3. Our drawings are a record of time and place. 4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness. 5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles. 6. We support each other and draw together. 7. We share our drawings online. 8. We show the world, one drawing at a time. The Urban Sketchers nonprofit develops educational programs to foster the art of on-location drawing. Their first initiative was the I International Urban Sketching Symposium held in Portland, Oregon, in July of 2010. The II International Urban Sketchers Symposium was held in Lisbon, in July 2011 and the III International Urban Sketching Symposium was held in Santo Domingo in July of 2012. Through our Urban Sketchers Workshops Program, we also organize urban sketching workshops in cities around the world. The 4th International Urban Sketching Symposium will take place in Barcelona, July 11-13, 2013. Urban Scketchers is excited to be collaborating with a city rich in culture and design for this three-day sketching event, and to have the support of Barcelona’s city hall, . Barcelona will be a big attraction for local and international people. Urban Sketchers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing; promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. We show the world, one drawing at a time. They can draw in many ways, but what is the way to do it? At all hours, anytime, is a way of life, a way of seeing the world. You can go to, sit on a subway platform and go drawing the people waiting on the platform in front, about three feet. It's a good place to draw and is very expensive (1.50 € Now, € 1 when I started). The subway it's a good place to draw, because: - There is an abundance and variety of models. - People go in a hurry and do not look. - Although you have look through routes, and thus gives less cutting. - People tend to stay still while you wait. The downside is that you have 3-4 minutes maximum for each person ... what it takes to get the train. You can’t find anything else that makes me feel a comparable emotion than when they stop to look around me and start drawing. They can express what they are observing….
