Buque Museo Fragata Sarmiento / Museum Frigate Sarmiento

Hoy me subí a un barco. Un barco que no zarpó. El Buque Museo Fragata ARA Presidente Sarmiento está anclado en el dique III del barrio de Puerto Madero. Como lo indica su nombre, es ahora un museo. En 1961 navegó los mares abiertos por última vez, antes de convertirse en el año 1962 en un museo de la Armada Argentina. Cuando estuvo en actividad realizó 39 viajes de instrucción de los alumnos de la escuela Naval Militar. Fue botada el 31 de agosto de 1897. Se la puede recorrer casi en su totalidad, bajando a las salas de máquinas y los camarotes de oficiales y marinos y la cubierta. Se paga un bono contribución para entrar de 2 pesos, que se destinan al mantenimiento del museo.
Today I found myself aboard a ship, a ship that did not sail. The Museum Frigate ARA Presidente Sarmiento is currently anchored  in the Dique III in Puerto Madero. As its name refers to, it is now a museum. In 1961 it sailed the open seas for the last time, before becoming in 1962 a museum of the Argentine Navy. Whilst in activity it undertook 39 instruction voyages for the students of the Military naval school. The Frigate was launched on the 31st of August 1897. One can visit just about any part of the boat, including the engine room, the officer´s and sailor´s cabins and the deck. A sort of contribution entrance has to be paid. The entrance fee costs 2 pesos, which are then re invested into the maintenance of the museum.
