On the 17th of August, 1850, General José de San Martín, died in Boulogne-sur-mer, north of France. He was the liberator of Argentina, Chile and Perú. His mortal remains travelled back to his country in 1880, and since then rest in his mausoleum in the Buenos Aires Cathedral. Celebrating the 163rd year of his death, the different forces of the Argentine army participated in these, which took place in the Plaza which was named after him: Plaza San Martín. The army orchestra played the National Anthem which gave way to a series of speeches and a symbolic homage to one of our national heroes.
