She was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles under the name of Norma Jeane Baker.
Her childhood was very hard and she lived in several orphanages ans shelters.
She first married at age 16, but the marriage did not las long, marrying for the second time in 1946 with the photographer André de Dienes.
During that time she worked as a swim-wear model, and later she dyed her hair blonde, which was a big boost for her career.
Then the 20th Century Fox hired her, and even changed her name by which we all know her today: Marilyn Monroe
She worked in films like: Ladies of the chorus (1948), Love Happy (1949), Bus Stop (1956) or Some like it hot (1959)
Although
her careerwas asuccess, her personal lifewas veryunstableand hadproblems withalcohol and drugsShe died on August 5, 1962 at age 36 from an overdose of barbiturates.
