The "Palais de Glace", also known as the Palacio Nacional de las Artes (National Palace of the Arts is the literal translation). It is located on Posadas 1795 in the neighbourhood of Recoleta. The buidling was inspired on the Palais de Glaces in Paris, France. It opened its doors as an Ice Skating course and social club. A few years later, with ice skating in decline, it became a dance hall. It is then that the ice gives way to the Tango. From 1960 up until our days, the Palais has become an exhibition room. The day I visited the Palais, there was an ongoing art exhibit by Argentine artist Alberto Cerdón. He was born and bred in Buenos Aires, and became known in the 60´s and early 70´s, until he was forced to run away in exile due to pressure from the military government in power at the time. The Palais can be visited from Tuesdays to Fridays from 12 to 20 hours and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 to 20 hours. No entry fees charged.
