The "Defensa Alley" is located on Defensa 1179 in the very heart of San Telmo. It used to be the house of a traditional family in Buenos Aires: the Ezeiza family. It was your typical 1880´s colonial style house, with two floors and various internal courtyards, around which all of the rooms can be found. It was built in 1876, but shortly after its construction the Ezeiza´s left the house, which then became a primary school, and the venue for the National Institution for the deaf and mute, and finally became a "conventillo" where over 30 families lived. Today it is an antique´s gallery and it has a couple of bars and cafes on the top floor.
