En un satsang que tuvo lugar en la presencia divina en el Kuala Lumpur, Malasia, el 31 de enero de 2017, un devoto preguntó cómo mantener a los jóvenes motivados por lo que continúan a participar en las actividades.
Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:
Pregunta : Amado Swami, los jóvenes vienen al Centro Sai cuando son jóvenes. Después de tener la experiencia y la exposición, una vez que empiezan a trabajar, que poco a poco abandonan. ¿Cómo los motivamos a seguir para permanecer en el Movimiento Sai y participar en las actividades?
Swami : El mismo hecho de que la juventud vino aquí y se les enseñó buenas cualidades era como sembrar las semillas del amor, devoción y servicio en su corazón. Cuando el ambiente está bien, la planta crece bien, teniendo flores y frutos. Cuando el entorno cambia, el árbol sufre, sus hojas se secan y se caen y las flores no florecen, porque no se está muy bien cuidado.
El tipo de empresa se tiene define lo buena persona que él o ella puede llegar a ser. Cuando usted está en buena compañía, buenos pensamientos vendrán. En un buen ambiente, todas las buenas cualidades florecen. Cuando se pierde la buena compañía, con el tiempo todas estas cosas también se desvanecen.
Un pedazo de hierro que permanece en contacto con un imán conserva su poder magnético. Si la misma pieza de hierro está expuesto a la humedad, que se cubre con polvo y óxido.
Los jóvenes deben mantenerse enganchado a través de una buena compañía. A medida que crecen, tienen que ganarse la vida. Eso no es algo para lo que se puede culpar. Tienen que trabajar, ganarse un buen nombre, desarrollar habilidades y ganar algo de dinero para mantenerse y mantener a su familia. No hay absolutamente nada malo en ella. Si las semillas que se han sembrado en su corta edad echan raíces y crecen y se hacen fuertes, entonces dondequiera que crecen, van a ser capaces de retener a sí mismos. Sin embargo, si las raíces no son lo suficientemente profundas, entonces la planta no resiste el cambio de ambiente.
Debe destacar a los jóvenes a temprana edad la importancia de mantener una buena compañía, mantener el contacto con la gente buena. Una vez que salen a la calle, es como una tormenta; nada puede estar en contra de que la tormenta de la mundanalidad. Hay miles de tipos de personas en el mundo, pero que son de un tipo diferente. Es muy difícil que se quede como está, pero si continúan volviendo a satsang, y su batería se pone cada vez recargado, entonces usted puede seguir haciendo lo bueno que tiene que hacer.
A veces, el joven no puede venir, pero no se debe dejar las cosas así; usted debe ir a donde los jóvenes son. Al igual que un agricultor que ha trabajado duro durante años, se puede dejar que el cultivo se marchitan por falta de un poco más de cuidado? Hay que ir tras ellos donde quiera que estén, entender, hablar con ellos y llevarlos de nuevo en el buen redil.
Puede que no ocurra todos los días; que pueden estar ocupados pero, al menos una vez en un mes, dos veces al mes, una vez por semana - ya que es conveniente, deben asistir al satsang. Si no se siguen regresando, entonces cualquier trabajo que han hecho con ellos a través de su niñez será en vano. Es su deber de proteger el árbol que has sembrado, hasta que se vuelve lo suficientemente fuerte, sus raíces lo suficientemente profundo que pueda soportar todas las estaciones. Por lo tanto, su esfuerzo no se detiene con ellos conseguir entrenado aquí y salir de los locales; su esfuerzo sigue siendo con ellos dondequiera que se encuentren. Estar en contacto con ellos. Inspirarlos y motivarlos a volver, una y otra vez, a recargarse.

In a satsang held in the divine presence at the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 31 January, 2017, a devotee asked how to keep the youth motivated so they continue to take part in the activities.
And here is what Swami said:
Question: Beloved Swami, youth come to the Sai Centre when they are young. After having the experience and exposure, once they start working, they slowly drop out. How do we motivate them to continue to remain in the Sai Movement and take part in the activities?
Swami: The very fact that youth came here and you taught them good qualities was like sowing the seeds of love, devotion and service in their heart. When the environment is right, the plant will grow well, bearing flowers and fruits. When the environment changes, the tree suffers, its leaves dry up and fall away and flowers do not blossom, because it is not being looked after very well.
The kind of company one keeps defines what kind person he or she can become. When you are in good company, good thoughts will come. In a good environment, all the good qualities blossom. When you lose good company, eventually all these things also fade away.
A piece of iron that remains in touch with a magnet retains its magnetic power. If the same piece of iron is exposed to moisture, it gets covered with dust and rust.
The youth need to be kept engaged through good company. As they grow up, they have to earn a livelihood. That is not something for which they can be blamed. They need to work, earn a good name, develop skills and earn some money to support themselves and their family. There is absolutely nothing wrong in it. If the seeds that you have sown in their young age take root and they grow and become strong, then wherever they grow, they will be able to retain themselves. However, if the roots are not deep enough, then the plant will not withstand the change of environment.
You must emphasise to the youth at a young age the importance of keeping good company, keeping in touch with good people. Once they go out, it is like a storm; nothing can stand against that storm of worldliness. There are thousands of kinds of people in the world, but you are of a different kind. It is very difficult for you to remain as you are, but if you keep coming back to satsang, and your battery keeps getting recharged, then you can go on doing what good you have to do.
Sometimes, the youth may not come, but you should not leave it at that; you must go wherever the youth are. Just like a farmer who has worked hard for years, can you let the crop wither away for want of a little more care? You should go after them wherever they are, know them, talk to them and bring them back into the good fold.
It may not happen every day; they may be busy but, at least once in a month, once a fortnight, once a week ‐ as it is convenient, they should attend the satsang. If they do not keep coming back, then whatever work you have done with them through their childhood will be wasted. It is your duty to protect the tree you have sown, until it becomes strong enough, its roots deep enough that it can withstand all the seasons. So, your effort does not stop with them getting trained here and leaving the premises; your effort continues to be with them wherever they are. Be in touch with them. Inspire them and motivate them to come back, again and again, to recharge themselves.
