Torre de los Ingleses / The British Tower

La Torre Monumental (anteriormente llamada la "Torre de los Ingleses") es un monumento situado en el barrio de Retiro, frente a las estación de trenes y micros del barrio. El nombre del monumento se cambio después de la Guerra de Malvinas.Fue donada por los residentes británicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires en 1910, pero recién se inauguró el 24 de mayo de 1916.La donación se hizo para conmemorar el centenario de la Revolución de Mayo (1810). Sobre el marco de su puerta se encuentran dos escudos: el Argentino y el Británico.
The "Torre Monumental" (previously known as the Tower of the British) is a monument that stands in Retiro neighbourhood, right in front of the city's main train and bus station. The name was changed following the war which took place between Argentina and the United Kingdom in 1982 over the Malvinas Islands. The building was a donation made by British citizens residing in Buenos Aires in 1910. It was finally completed and opened on the 24th of May 1916. The donation was made in order to celebrate the 100 years of the "Revolución de Mayo" (1810), which was the initial reaction which led to Argentine independence.
