Cuando el arte y la moda se fusionan con un toque de humor y mucho color el resultado “DINO” la colección Otoño/Invierno 2015 de Simone Soon diseñadora emergente a la que auguro un futuro brillante. La diseñadora nos habla en primera persona sobre su colección.
DINO está inspirada en el cine mudo en películas como ” The lost World” de 1925 o “The beast from 20.000 fathoms” de 1953. Películas que en principio deberían ser de terror, pero vistas hoy en día, tienen un aire de ironía y humor por la forma tan sencilla en que fueron hechas.
Esta colección transmite la agresividad y brutalidad que proyectan los dinosaurios en las películas, utilizo “gotas de sangre” y recreo algunas heridas para dar ese toque gore, aunque la parte más importante es que sea irónico y divertido.
La parte divertida es la protagonista lo vemos en los accesorios, colores y detalles de cada prenda. Hay muchas texturas y todas han sido creadas a mano, quería que tuviera esa esencia así que incluí un tejido de punto grueso que no puede ser creado a máquina al igual que el macramé. Estas texturas tan vastas representan la brutalidad dan cuerpo a la brutalidad de los dinosaurios y a la sensación abrumadora que transmiten en las películas. He agregado pompones para dar un toque más divertido con los accesorios. Combino muchos colores saturados con tonos pasteles y los mezclo con blanco y negro. La suma de todos estos elementos me ayuda transmitir lo más importante para mi : DIVERSIÓN
The designer Simone Soon talks about her first collection with us.
“DINO” is a collection inspired by old dinosaur movies such as the silent movie “The lost world” from 1925 and “The beast from 20.000 fathoms” made in 1953. These old movies were meant to be scary and terrifying but with today’s interpretation, they look funny and ironic because of the simple way they are made.
The collection transmits the same aggressiveness and brutality as the dinosaurs projected in the movies. It’s gore using blood dripping and wounds. The most important thing is that it’s fun and ironic.
The fun element is seen in accessories, colors and details of the garments. In the collection there are a lot of different textures. They have all been handmade and my aim is to have the collection look handcrafted by introducing huge chunky knit that no machine can produce and as well chunky weaving and macrame. The chunkyness is to follow the same brutality and overwhelming feeling as the dinosaurs are being shown in the movies. I have introduced pom poms in the accessories to give a fun and childish feeling to the collection. The aggressive feeling has been obtained using oversized accessories and garments. In the collection I have worked with both very puffy and soft materials mixed with clean playful shapes. In many garments, triangular shapes are used referring to the classical symbol of the dinosaur making everybody understand what it’s all about. I have combined a high number of saturated colors with pastels, off white and black. The collection is colorful and this should help me transmitting what is most important to me: THE FUN
