Escuela de Bordado: cómo trabajar el hilo / Embroidery School: how to use the thread

Después de ver cómo colocar la aguja y el hilo (aquí), vamos a resolver algunas dudas sobre cómo trabajar el hilo.
After seeing how to place the needle and the thread (here), we are going to resolve some doubts abour how to use the thread.

Pasar de un punto a otro: si la distancia entre los puntos es pequeña, se puede pasar de uno a otro por el revés de la tela. Si no, es así es mejor cortar el hilo y comenzar de nuevo.
Move from a stitch to other: if the distance between the stitches is small, it is possible to go  from one to the other by the back of the fabric. If it is not, it is better to cut the thread and start again. 

Tirar del hilo hacia arriba o hacia abajo, o bien hacia la izquierda o hacia la derecha: en algunos casos sólo hay una opción, en otros hay varias, pero debemos tener claro como queda el punto según como lo hagamos. Al ir explicando los puntos de bordado, detallo este aspecto.
To pull the thread up or down, or towards the left side or towards the right: in some cases there is only one option, in others there are several, but it must be clearly how the stitch will result depending on how we do it. As I explain the embroidery stitches, I will tell in detail this aspect.

Entrar por la parte del ojo de la aguja: cuando trabajamos con telas delicadas o con hilos que se deshilachan con facilidad, la punta de la aguja puede romper el hilo o rasgar la tela, por lo que introducimos la aguja en la tela por el ojo. Para ello, el hilo debe estar siempre en el derecho de la labor y lo sujetamos con el pulgar, evitando que se enrede.
To enter by the side of the eye of the needle: when working with delicate fabrics or with threads which easily fray, the top of the needle can break the thread or tear the fabric, so we will push  the needle in the fabric through the eye. For this, the thread must be always in the face of the needlework and we hold it with the thumb, preventing it from tangling. 
La tensión del hilo: debemos mantener la tensión adecuada del hilo (por eso aconsejo utilizar bastidor), pues si el punto queda flojo pierde la forma y si tensamos demasiado haremos arrugas o pliegues en la tela. En ambos casos, el trabajo no queda limpio.
The tension of the thread: we must keep the appropiate tension of the thread (therefore I advise to use a frame), so if the stitch is loose, it loses the shape and if we tauten too much we will cause wrinkles or folds in the fabric. In both cases, the work does not result clean.

La torsión del hilo: tanto si se deshace la torsión del hilo como si éste se enrolla sobre sí mismo, los puntos se desdibujan y no obtenemos el resultado deseado. Por eso debemos estar pendientes de mantener la torsión del hilo. Una forma de hacerlo es pasar los dedos suavemente por el hilo, desde el bordado al extremo del hilo dejando que éste recupere su torsión inicial.
The twist of the thread: if the thread loses the twisting or if this it rolls on itself, the stitches get blurred and we do not obtain the wished result. Therefore we must be aware of keeping the twist of the thread. A way of doing this is to swipe the fingers gently along the thread, from the embroidery to the end of the thread allowing this to recover its initial twisting. 

Ancho y volumen de los puntos: dependerá de hacia dónde y cuánto tiremos del hilo, del largo de las puntadas, de la distancia entre ellas y, en el caso de puntos que se entrelazan, de si sacamos el hilo de  la nueva puntada  por debajo o al lado de la anterior. También lo explico en las entradas de los puntos de bordado.
Width and volume of the stitches:: the length of the stitches and the distance between them will depend on towards where and how tight we pull the thread, and,  in case of interwoven stitches, on whether we pull the thread of the new stitch below or next to the previous one.
