Tutorial San Valentín: calienta tazas / Valentine's Day tutorial: mug cozy

Se acerca San Valentín y este año no he dudado qué hacer porque por aquí todos andamos resfriados y nos pasamos el día tomando bebidas calentitas. Así que estos cubre tazas nos van a venir muy bien.
Valentine’s Day approaches and this year I have no doubt about what to do because here we all have a cold and spend the day drinking hot beverages. So these mug cozies will be perfect. 

1- Lo primero es medir las tazas, descontando de su diámetro la parte del asa. En mi caso los cubre tazas son de 24 cm. x 8 cm. Así que he cortado dos piezas de tela de esa medida para cada cubre taza y un trozo de guata de 23 cm. x 7 cm.
1- First thing is to measure the mugs, without the handle. In my case the mug cozies are 9.4’ x  3.1’. So I cut two pieces of fabric this size for every cozy and a piece of 9’ x 2.7’ battng.

2. A continuación, cortamos las piezas de los corazones y las cosemos entre sí. El patrón es éste:
2- Cut the pieces for the hearts and sew them. This is the pattern:


3- Planchamos los dobladillos, los hilvanamos y los cosemos a máquina a la tela delantera.
3- Then iron the cuffs, baste and machine sew to the front fabric.


4- Después cosemos las telas encarando sus partes delanteras y dejando un hueco para darle la vuelta. No olvidéis colocar una cinta elástica para cerrar el cubre tazas. Ponemos las telas del derecho, haciendo antes unos cortes en los ángulos, planchamos bien, rellenamos con la guata y cerramos a punto escondido.
4- Now sew the pieces matching both front parts of the fabrics and leaving a hole to turn the inside out. Don’t forget to place an elastic strap to close the mug cozy. Turn the inside out, but previosuly make some cuts at the corners, iron well, refill with batting and close using hidden stitch.

5- Terminamos cosiendo un botón para enganchar la cinta elástica.
5- And finally sew a button to hook the elastic strap.
