Vacaciones IV: Dubrovnik

Para ir terminando con mis vacaciones, te presento Dubrovnik, Croacia, conocida como la "Perla del Adriático". Desde hace algunos años Croacia se ha puesto de moda como destino vacacional, y créeme es todo un acierto. Sus aguas son cristalinas, sus paisajes inigualables; dan ganas de irse una temporada a sus tierras y desconectar del mundo, quedándote solo con el dulce ronroneo de la naturaleza y de su historia. / To be ending with my vacactions, hear is Dubrovnik, Croatia, known as the "Adriatic Pearl". Since few years ago, Croatia, has been popular as a turism destination, and belive me, it is gorgeous. The water is crystalline, the landscapes are unique; it feels like going there for a while and desconect of the whole world, just staying with the sweet purring of it's nature and history.

La historia de Dubrovnik es apasionante. Durante siglos (que no es poco), se constituyo como uno de los puertos maritimos mas importantes de Europa, lo que hizo que fuera habitada, en su gran mayoría, por comerciantes y diplomáticos. Gracias a ello esta ciudad-estado llego, incluso, a competir con Venecia. Pero la ciudad no solo fue prospera a nivel económico, sino que, ademas, albergo grandes ideas progresistas tanto a nivel artístico como social. / Dubrovnik's history is fascinating. For centuries (that is something), was established as one of the most important maritime trade seaports of Europe, which made it inhabited mostly by merchants and diplomats. Thanks to that this city-state rival Venice. But the city wasn't only thrive economically but artistic and social too; it achieved a high level of development, especially during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Con el transcurrir de los años, cayo en manos de Napoleón, formo parte del Imperio Austro-Húngaro, y, en contra de su voluntad, fue absorbida dentro de la artificial Yugoslavia, hasta que exploto la guerra en 1991. / As the years pass by, the city surrendered to the Napoleonic Army, it was part of the Habsburg Empire, and against their will, it was absorb by the artificial Yugoslavia, until the war explode in 1991.
La belleza de la ciudad antigua es inigualable; ni la historia, ni la guerra, ni los terremotos, han podido con el espíritu de su gente, quienes la han ido reconstruyendo. Aunque mas bien hace pensar, que la  han estado guardando en una urna de cristal. / The beauty of the city is unmatched; neither history, nor war, nor earthquakes have been able with the spirit of its people, who have been reconstructed. Although it rather suggests, that has been keeping it in a glass case.


Dubrovnik aloja la tercera farmacia mas antigua de Europa (de 1317). En ella podrás encontrar cremas, aceites y pomadas realizadas con formulas y recetas del siglo XIV (from 1317). La mas popular es la crema de rosas. / In Dubrovnik is set the third oldest pharmacy of Europa. There you can find creams, oils and ointments made with 14th century's formulas and recipes. The most popular is the roses cream.
 

Merece la pena dar un paseo por la muralla que rodea la ciudad, eso si, el camino es desigual, en algunos puntos es estrecho y angosto, si piensas hacerlo llévate calzado cómodo; nada mejor que unas buenas deportivas. E intenta evitar días muy calurosos, y sino puedes, no olvides una botella de agua, te hará falta. / It worth it to visit the city walls, that run almost 2 km (1.24 mi) around the city.  Be aware, the run is hard and in some points is too thin, so if you are going to do it, wear comfortable shoes, sneakers are the best. Try to avoid really hot days, and if you can't, don't forget to bring water, you will need it.

Impactante como la que mas, Dubrovnik quita el hipo a cualquiera que se acerque a sus inmediaciones, es uno de esos destinos al que habría que hacerle una especie de camino de baldosas amarillas. / Shocking as the most, Dubrovnik take the breath away of anyone who comes closer. Is one of those destinations that should have a sort of yellow brick road.
